Use Lyra from your AI assistant

You can run your blog from Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Hermes, or any app that supports remote MCP servers. Connect Lyra once from Settings > AI connections, and your assistant can read your posts, check the SEO Copilot and analytics, and write, revise, schedule, and publish posts when you ask. This page covers how to connect each app, what the assistant can and cannot do, and how to limit it.

Prerequisites

  • An approved Lyra account. You can connect an AI app once your access is approved, or once a teammate invites you to their website.
  • An AI app that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in. Claude, ChatGPT, Codex CLI, Cursor, VS Code, and Hermes all do.

Connect an AI app

Every app connects with the same connector URL, shown at the top of Settings > AI connections under Connector URL.

  1. Go to Settings > AI connections.
  2. Copy the Connector URL.
  3. Under Connect from, pick your app to see its steps, then follow them below.
  4. When your app opens Lyra's sign-in, choose which websites it can reach and a daily action limit, then click Allow access.

The sign-in request stays open for 10 minutes. If it expires, go back to your app and add Lyra again.

Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector.
  2. Paste the URL. Leave the client ID and secret empty.
  3. Sign in to Lyra, then choose websites and a daily action limit.

Once connected, Lyra also works in the Claude mobile app.

ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings, Apps and connectors, Advanced, and turn on developer mode.
  2. Click Create, paste the URL, and choose OAuth for authentication.
  3. Sign in to Lyra, then choose websites and a daily action limit.

Codex CLI

  1. Run these two commands, replacing the URL with your connector URL:
codex mcp add lyra --url https://connect.trylyra.ai/mcp
codex mcp login lyra
  1. Sign in to Lyra in the browser that opens, then choose websites and a daily action limit.

Cursor

  1. In Cursor, open Settings, MCP, Add new MCP server.
  2. Choose HTTP (streamable) and paste the URL.
  3. Click Connect and sign in to Lyra.

VS Code

  1. Open the Command Palette, run MCP: Add Server, and choose HTTP.
  2. Paste the URL.
  3. Sign in to Lyra when prompted.

Hermes

  1. Add Lyra to ~/.hermes/config.yaml:
mcp_servers:
  lyra:
    url: "https://connect.trylyra.ai/mcp"
    auth: oauth
  1. Run hermes mcp login lyra and sign in to Lyra in the browser that opens.
  2. Start a new Hermes session, or run /reload-mcp.

Other apps

Any client that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth can connect. Add the URL, then sign in to Lyra and choose websites and a daily action limit. Sign-in must finish on your own computer or in a supported app.

What the assistant can do

Once connected, your assistant works on your blog as you, inside the websites you chose. It can:

  • Read every post in full, including its frontmatter, slug, and file, and hand it to your CMS.
  • Write, revise, schedule, and publish posts.
  • Run the SEO Copilot, ask it questions, and act on its findings.
  • Read your analytics.
  • Edit your writing guide and site settings.

It cannot:

  • Change your plan or payment details.
  • See your API keys.
  • Connect repos or Search Console.
  • Invite or remove teammates.
  • Delete websites.
  • Raise its own limit.

For those, use the Lyra dashboard.

Publish to another CMS

Your assistant can take a finished post from Lyra and publish it to WordPress, Webflow, Ghost, or any other CMS it is also connected to. It reads the post from Lyra, publishes it with that CMS's own tools, then tells Lyra the live address. The post then shows where it was published under Published to on its page in Lyra.

The assistant asks before it acts

Anything that publishes, cannot be undone, changes your writing guide or site settings, or starts writing or analysis on your Claude key needs your yes. The assistant shows you what will change first, and only goes ahead once you agree. Questions to the SEO Copilot run without asking, but still count toward the daily limit.

Writing, revising, and Copilot runs are queued, not instant. Your assistant can check on them while they run.

Daily action limit

Each connection has a daily limit on the actions that matter: work that runs Claude on your key, publishing, changes to your writing guide or site settings, and anything that cannot be undone. Each one uses one action. Reading posts and analytics does not.

You pick the limit when you connect: 5, 20, or 50 a day, a custom limit from 1 to 1,000, or No limit, which still asks you before each action. The default is 20. When a connection reaches its limit, the assistant tells you, and it cannot raise the limit itself.

To change the limit later, open Settings > AI connections and change it on that connection.

Manage connections

Settings > AI connections lists every app you have connected, with the websites it can reach, its daily limit, when you connected it, and when it was last used.

  • To cut off one app, click Disconnect on it.
  • To cut off every app, click Disconnect all.

A disconnected assistant stops reaching your account immediately. Work it already started keeps running.

Resetting your password, signing out everywhere, or having your account disabled also disconnects every AI app you connected before then.

  • SEO Copilot: The weekly report your assistant can read and act on.
  • Writing posts: What happens when your assistant starts a post.
  • Security: How Lyra protects your account.
  • Settings: Every Settings tab in one place.

Resolution: Go back to your AI app and add Lyra again to get a fresh request.

Issue: The assistant says it reached its limit
