Billing
Billing in Lyra runs on Stripe. You manage your plan, payment method, and invoices from the Billing page. Only the workspace owner can manage billing. This page covers usage, plan changes, and cancellation.
Usage meters
Lyra meters posts written, not merged. A post counts against your limit the moment its draft is pushed to a branch. The Billing overview shows a "Posts written this cycle" meter against your plan's monthly limit.
Your allowance counts the calendar month you are paying for, so a short month never counts posts against the wrong cycle. The monthly limit is a hard stop. When you reach it, writing pauses until the cycle resets or you add capacity. On the Free plan, the 3-post limit is a lifetime total labeled "Posts used".
The Billing overview
The overview shows:
- Your current plan and its tagline.
- The posts-written meter for this cycle.
- Included limits, features, and any active add-ons.
- Your payment method, shown as the card brand and last four digits.
- Your next invoice, broken down by plan and add-ons.
- Recent invoices.
Upgrade and downgrade
- Upgrades apply immediately. You are charged a prorated amount today and get the higher limits right away.
- Downgrades apply at cycle end. Nothing is charged today. You keep your current plan until the period ends, and you can cancel the downgrade with Keep [plan] before then.
Add capacity without upgrading
If you need more posts, seats, or another website, add an add-on instead of moving up a plan. Add-ons are available on paid plans, stack, and are prorated. See Add-ons.
Payment
All payment runs through Stripe's hosted checkout and customer portal. Card details never touch Lyra. To change your card, open the customer portal from Billing.
When a payment fails
If a website's plan or extra-website fee cannot be charged, Lyra pauses that website completely until it is paid: no new posts, rewrites, review fixes, revisions, SEO fixes, or conflict resolving. Your posts, drafts, and settings are all kept.
You see it in three places:
- Billing shows the payment that is due, with a button to pay it on Stripe's secure page or to update your card.
- The automation chip at the top of the dashboard reads Payment due and takes you to Billing.
- Settings > Agents marks the website Payment due, with a way to pay.
Paying the open invoice is all it takes. Lyra starts again on her own as soon as the payment lands, with nothing to resume by hand. A pause you set yourself stays as you left it. While an invoice is still owed, you cannot subscribe a second time, so you never pay for two plans on one website.
Cancel a plan
When you cancel, your plan runs until the end of the current period, then agents pause:
- Agents pause.
- Analytics freezes.
- Nothing is lost.
Reactivate before the period ends to keep running without interruption. If you are on Free with your posts used up, choose a plan from the Billing cards to start a subscription.

Troubleshooting
Issue: I cannot see billing controls
Symptoms: The Billing page is empty or missing options.
Diagnosis: You are not the workspace owner, or billing is not configured.
Resolution: Only the owner can manage billing. Ask your workspace owner, or confirm your deployment has Stripe configured.
Issue: The dashboard says Payment due
Symptoms: The automation chip reads Payment due, and nothing new runs on a website.
Diagnosis: The website's plan or extra-website fee could not be charged.
Resolution: Open Billing and pay the open invoice, or update your card. Lyra resumes on her own once the payment lands. See When a payment fails.
Issue: Writing stopped mid-month
Symptoms: New posts will not start and usage looks full.
Diagnosis: You reached your plan's monthly post limit.
Resolution: Wait for the cycle to reset, add an extra-posts pack, or upgrade. See Add-ons.
